  • Kill switch voltage?

Does anyone know how much voltage is in a kill switch line when activated? I've been lead to believe it is very high and I'm nervous to put a volt meter on it. Our work safety meetings have shown some crazy videos of multimeters blowing up if used wrong or beyond spec. haha.

the primary voltage on the cd ignition systems currently in use is roughly between 250/350 volts. The primary voltage is what you will see on the ignition safety cut off switch. The secondary voltage from the ignition coils can run as high as 50,000 volts, although it only takes between 7,000/20,000 for ignition on a properly tuned engine. The primary circuit (cut off switch) although a lower voltage has higher current and will hit you as hard or in my opinion harder than the ignition secondary. You can use a voltmeter on the primary but since the frequency of the system is low you will not get a usable number unless the meter is capable of reading peak voltage
