  • 20" HR GEAR RARTIO ?

-what gears did the last of the B HRs run, prior to SideWinder ?
I want to prop one, and am thinking one
of my 102/302 3 blades would work ?
Or, what was a good hydro wheel for them?

The Hot Rod has a 14:19 gear ratio....... that is a 73% gear reduction, which is the same as the Sidewinder.... which is also the same gear ratio on the OMC A and Mercury AX motors.

    The Yamato 102 / 302 and 321 have a 14:15 gear ratio....... that is a 93% gear reduction.

So for a "B", 20 cubic inch Hot Rod you would need a propeller with more pitch. Probably about a 7 x 14..... 7" of diameter and 14" of pitch. (The Yamato would run about a 7 x 11 or 12.)

There should be plenty of that size propellers out there. (By the way it was "Roy" Minor.)

You could also look for a "B" Mercury 20-H or 25SS / 25XS Mercury propeller..... they are a 16:21 gear ratio which is a 76% gear reduction. Which would be close to a propeller for a "B" Hot Rod.

-thank you. Some of the smaller D wheels may be worth a try too .
