  • A-MOD Hot-Rod timing ?

    Converting a Stock 15 CI Hot-Rod to mod..... Talked to Tom Sutherland at Kittaning and he said to back timing down to 23-24 degrees BTDC....... He was going to check his chart for BTDC in thousands but got busy and did not get number from him..... Anyone know 23-24 degrees in thousandths?..... Also jetting up to a 0.95 main...... Any other thoughts ?..Heading too Lock Haven Thursday AM...... Gotta ROCK... The LOCK !!... Thanks, Steve 100N

    If the 15 ci Rod con rod and stroke are the same dimensions as the 19.94ci B rod I can give you the thousands BTDC. I'm thinking all they changed is the bore?

      checking with a dial indicator on a 20 cube motor with a omc ign that is marked it looks like .100=24 degrees.....seems low but does that sound like the conversion for 24 degrees ?

          hi steve I use 25
          25 = .121
          24 = .111
          23 = .102
          22 = .094
          25 is good if cc's around 12
          if shooting for the min 11 cc then 23
          jet either 95 or 90
          mostly using 95

            Thanks Mike....out of time to have CC'd.... Sutherland said to back off to 23-24 on a MOD.
            Very close to 25 now and mag base must need cleaned cause very stubborn to rotate but again running out of time.

            Motor has very little time since new in box.
            Timing was way retarded when I started this build and when I drove it several years ago testing with Archie and compared to my OMC-22 closed exhaust A-MOD it seemed like a slug.
            He never had it checked.

            runabout33.... That is where I set my 20 Cube with the Phalon point ignition.... Thanks !
