Thanks for the heads up. Ordered it. Hope I get it before the Nationals. It will make interesting reading and maybe reinforce what I have read, learn new additional information, and separate some of the wheat from the chaff.

Here are a couple of sites to help determine propeller data

    Prop data calculation (ratio/pitch/speed/slip): http://rbbi.com/folders/prop/propcalc.htm

How to measure prop pitch/rake with a gauge: http://www.ehow.com/how_5895820_dete...rop-pitch.html

How to measure Prop pitch without a gauge: http://www.ehow.com/how_8715837_measure-pitch-prop.html

I, too, am interested in finding out as much about prop voodoo as possible...

Black Magic for sure. Many years ago in my "yute" in the early 60's I found a guy named Smith in Shreveport, LA who would work on my 20H props. It wasn't until I read the article on SOA's website forty some years later that I realized that I had tapped into one of the greats of his time. How lucky can you get!

Try the Hering prop calculator (BTW just 1 r in the name).

In the Hering calculator where it asks for pitch and the prop has a progressive pitch do you enter the average pitch such as say 12 for a progressive pitch of 11 to 13?

Yes, that will work. Please remember these calculators are just for reference, there are so many variables that no computers could possibly allow for all of them. But, it is a very nice tool, and a heck of a lot better than our old pencil and paper math or (later) slide calculator.
