Does anyone have an input shaft for an Eldridge gearcase laying around? I need one.

Eldredge! You might need the correct spelling of the name for a proper parts search online, for example.

Check Steve Dunn in Conway, SC. He's a regular contributor and once told me that he bought all such Eldredge units that he could.

Ddalton, Its very similar to a mercury D unit. Instead of a bolt to secure the pinion gear, like the mercury, the shaft is threaded and a nut secures the gear.

Dwhitford, do you have any contact info? I couldn't locate him.

If I remember correctly the shaft stub started as a 55-H shaft. You can make a new one using a square coupling and a 55-H shaft. I have a complete Eldridge unit I will sell for $1,200
