The skeg has been thinned about .015. Please let me know if you know the APBA rules on it.

Go to the APBA web site and under Resources, the Stock Outboard Technical Manual on page 61, there is no skeg thickness measurement. So if it is .015” thinner or .0075” off of each side, I’m sure that it is still legal, This is for the 25XS Mercury Motor. I wouldn’t take any more off.

this case is not for the XS - the XS has a cle case- perhaps late 20 H - or 25 SS

Re: New Old Stock long skeg Mercury 20H gear case

I assembled the gear case in 98. it had to have been a MK30H version, as the 25SS parts would not fit. The top ball bearing is a different size than that used for the MK20H. Mercury machined up some MK30H castings to fit the MK20H when they ran out of the short skeg cases. They had apparently disposed of the exterior dies for the short skeg units when they chose to create the deep skeg units. The MK20H parts will fit if properly shimmed, but the MK30H/25SS parts will not fit into the units machined for MK20H service. R.T.

Foot Doctor said it is a 30H case. Any offers?

In all reality, it would probably be more like $1000.!!!

Sorry I didn't answer sooner. The cost would be at least $1000.00. Assuming all new parts. Gear ratio, either 14:14, OR 16:21 would make a small difference. All of the parts are available, other than the case itself.
