  • Kurcz steel mod towers FS

    2017 production Kurcz Series II 7-1/2" steel towers for your Mod engine project. They are built of laser-cut 1018 PNO steel, precision jigged, and TIG welded. The standard 7-1/2" unit shown is appx. 35 Lbs. Six are in production, due for completion March-April 2017. One is sold; five are available.

    Standard top plates are drilled for OMC 49.9 triple. Specials have been drilled for the 45SS, 40/44, 60/66, and 99 CI Mercs.

    The standard bottom plate is configured for the bulletproof 45SS gearcase with water pump. Others have been configured for Yamato, Bass, D-Merc, and even the Merc SSM#1.

    Options include internal exhaust, a 10" tall version (44XS) for taller transoms, driveshafts, and couplers.

    Complete, unpainted with Merc clamp & swivel, vernier (Bud Parker style) pitch adjustment, water inlet/outlet fittings, and collapsible steering bar, the unpainted unit is $1450 USD + shipping.

    The 1018 is a very low carbon material with great formability and for welding. A qualified laser could cut these parts +-. 005.
    ​PNO is actually P & O,, Pickled & Oiled is where a hot roll material is run through several extra process making it a super material
    ​for this racing application. My goal here was to help out Tim and a potential buyer.

      Thanks for the bump. For those unaware: Acid pickling removes mill scale (oil quench prevents rust), so there's no need for secondary blasting or grinding. Welds are stronger and paint adheres better as a result.
