  • 2018 NBRA Long Course National Championships in Clarksville, AR (August 16th-19th)

This is going to be a great event! The town of Clarksville really goes all out for us when we come to town. In addition to this event being for NBRA Long Course National Championship titles you will have the chance to set a 1 Mile Closed Course/3 Lap Competition Speed Record as the course will be officially surveyed at 1 mile. If you have ever had your sights on attending an NBRA event this is definitely the one to make! Below you will find the proposed racing schedule for Saturday and Sunday. Jeff Ruth and myself tried to work out as many kinks as we possibly could to make this schedule have a flow that could be easily kept up with throughout the weekend. Hope to see many of you there this weekend! Safe travels and good luck to all!

Reminder: Three (3) legal starters get you a legal heat (scored at regular points if no more than 4 start each heat) of racing in each class and a chance at a competition record! Five (5) legal starters in at least 1 of the 3 heats get you a chance at a Long Course National Championship title (scored at double points for all 3 heats)! Elimination heats receive no national points.

I would like to take the time to thank all the members of the NBRA that welcomed me to the Clarksville race, specifically Alan Van Weele, the Miller family, and many.others.It was the longest course i have ever seen, including Lakeland, but with tighter turns. With a full field of CSH's the water could not have been calmer. or more raceable, not to mention the quality of the field. Our pits were perfect and the food provided by the Millers was awesome. We had the opportunity to consume many cucumber martini's and that may have added to my poor performance.I look forward to next year, even though I intend to consume the same number of cocktails or more, I am looking for a better outcome!I highly recommend more APBA members consider adding one of their races to their schedule.Oh, I got more tow money than the last 30 APBA races I have attended combined, just saying!!!! I am coming back!!!

I always have thought the idea of a short and long course nationals what a cool idea by the NBRA. Can you tell me John what the measurements are that separate the two? For example is the short course up to a mile and long over a mile?

Long Course is usually around 1 mile (give or take a bit).

Short Course is up to 3/4 mile.

Herb it was great to have you come over and race with us and more importantly hang out with us. 16 CSH's was great to have and very good competition. Jeff our Long Course is usually about .85 mile and our Short Course is usually about .65-.7 mile. We had a measure 1 mile this weekend.. Although it felt slightly bigger than that, but probably the more narrow corners and longer straight - a ways made it feel that way. Anyways Clarksville is an amazing place. Sets down in the bottom of the Arkansas hills/mountains and the banks are shallow so the waves dissipate very well. The water is amazing for really racing intently.

I have been out of town, but would like to thank one other person who helped both myself and especially my newbie pitcrew , Charlie Gonyea. Without his help, I would of never made the final heats. Thanks again Charlie!!You took off big pressure from my new guy!!!
