Re: Vintage cab over Konig or Crescent powered hydro

This was Dieter Schulze's boat .Built at Sid Craft shop by Dieter.Brian Hendrick helped rig it (as a teenager in 1961) at Picton Ontario. Was the John Ward Memorial Race. So now it is restored and waiting to have some finishing touches added.Had a couple of new Bubble screens made in Florida by Gustafsson Plastics. They have one of the original moulds from Germany. Great people and beautyful work....Will run a number of Konigs on this boat...FC/FCS ......Hope to get it done this year.Better get to it now!!!

i remember when Dieter Schultz came over with Dieter Konig. Dieter Schultz stayed and to make some money built a real nice cabin cruiser outside back behind Bud Wiget's shop. He sold the boat and was able to spend some time in the USA.

I couldn't figure out how to post the link but if you want to watch a video of an aired out cabover google Chris Applebee. If you want to watch one in a race in Russia google Janos Feil.

        Best Regards,

                      Steve,

Where was this picture taken? Obviously a place with snow it looks like.

                      Thanks, Dean

Re: Vintage cab over Konig or Crescent powered hydro

Approximately what years were those boats built?

And roughly when did Crescent start and stop building that engine?

Well Dean, this was taken about a block or so from Konig factory. This is were boat testing was done after motor tests/ development was done and tested at factory. What you see and think is snow, is gravel piled up and it is white. There were always barges moving this and other items through the canals of Berlin. Berlin is a city that has many canals that crisscross through it and at one time was a escape route from the East to flee communism. Many died trying to do this over the years. A very interesting place to be in the eighties to observe the form Soviet Block and the things citizens did to escape. There is a very good museum at the old Checkpoint Charlie gate that shows what was done from 1960 and before to 89 and how people sought out simple freedom. It was a experience that I would not trade for any amount of money. To bad our young citizens canít see this or experience this,(maybe in Venezuela) what Socialism does to people and a nation. Looks good on paper but is pure BS in the real World.
