  • What is the weight of a Mercury

What is the weight of a Mercury that's used in 25SSR ? A scrawny little 50 year old wants to know.

Lighter than a Yamato, I am relying on memory from lifting mine years ago but about 75-80 lbs.

76 pounds according to Mercury sales flyer. I lift it with a fuel tank mounted on the back of it... not many 45 year old more scrawny than me. haha.

The original 1985 Mercury 25XS was advertised at 85 lbs. It was run pretty much at the factory weight and had a fiberglass top cowling and two piece fiberglass lower engine cowling (pan). The later 25XS engines had a more robust transom clamp ass'y and a slightly heavier gearcase. Also, most racers added a kickout adjuster bracket to the later models. The "latest" 25XS engines sold 1988 thru 1992 had a solid aluminum, one piece lower cowling (pan) and a heavier top cowling. Pretty sure they all were sold with steel steering bar setup and that would also add some weight.
I'll try to weigh one today in 1986 thru 1988 design.
