Year 2 done! We had a good core of 9 classes, it would be nice to make that 12 next year. It is not a large site but there was room for at least 50% more. We did the whole schedule on Saturday, only JSH was put off to Sunday for the kids sake. Driving in the generally lite rain was not the problem, it was the sitting in the turn boat that was bad. The racers at Berwick this year really know how to work together.
The river level was stable and lower than last year, more current than we are used to but no downstream hazzards like dams or rocks to worry about. Sunday was a normal decent weather race day that went off smooth. If you could have come but didn't, join us at Berwick next year.

The Berwick Area Boat Club would like to thank all the racers that came from near & far, the officials that make things run smoothly, and volunteers. Great weekend!! Bigger and better next year. (awards & Saturday banquet to name a couple).

This was a true TEAM effort. The Community was 100% into this event and whenever there was a need, they delivered. The PA system did not function on Saturday, there was a new one waiting for us on Sunday. Hat's off to Capt Jim Shotwell and his Berwick Area Boat Club for their non stop support throughout the weekend.

To the drivers and crews, thank you for making it easy on the officials. Help was always at the ready without asking. Unsung hero's of the weekend were the Patrol Boat drivers who literally weathered the storm on Saturday.

Great racing on the Simmons designed course with one buoy turns and everyone had a great time. With an additional year under our belts the event will continue to grow. Thank you to all that were involved.

            One Drivers Top Two

Off-Course Number One: The folks who put this together and those who kept it going were so over the Top as to be UNRATEABLE! With a 100% chance of heavy rains and wind gusts setting the stage for NoWayJose…..instead this turned into Another Classic Can Do event. From Scorer to Announcer to Lt.Commander to Captain to Patrol Crews, to EMTs, and OTHERS pitching in……it was jaw dropping to see it happen……and no matter if the crowd was one or one thousand…..the Show Did Go On! CLEARLY, another special time spent at Test Track Park.

            On-Course Number One:
Wearing Superman’s “S” on his chest, a nine year old rookie made his debut, taking on the Susquehanna River….while “Walker Racing” turning circles since 1953, and the rest, witnessed a promising driver enter Berwick’s history books. This youngster had the same rain and raw and wind as everyone else, and ate it up like a grizzled veteran. HE was ready to go Saturday, but kept cool when only JSH was rescheduled…then doubled up on Sunday for Two Days in One. In the end, with four complete heats now under his Kevlars, living the life of Riley and turning circles since 2015….a stick tap is sent to the future.

            THANK YOU BERWICK.

Many thanks to all that truly weathered the storm. While the weather wasn't great on Saturday the racing still was! Riley had a great time and can now say he is a driver and not just crew!

LOCALS EXCITED FOR TEST TRACK PARK RACING

-With thunderheads in the valley, Facebook pages were FILLED with anxious inquiries as to if the races were still a Go (and oh how they hoped so!)

-The printed press responded Sunday with a bold headline under NATIONAL News reading
                "REGATTA STILL RUNS IN RAIN!"

-Not done yet, Monday’s edition-local was loud ‘n proud, declaring
                “WET AND WILD AT REGATTA”!

As they boast in the Borough, if you haven’t been to Berwick then you haven’t been racing.
(Can that be true? Only way to know is getting there).
