  • Nic Thompson - Arrangements

Nicholas K. Thompson (Nic), 34, of Ft. Pierce, FL passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends on October 18, 2014. Nic was born on November 17, 1979 in Lakeland, FL, moved to Stuart in 1984, then to Port St. Lucie, Orlando and then Ft. Pierce in 2008. He graduated from Ft. Pierce Central High School in 1998. Nic loved life and touched so many lives. His true passion was racing boats.

In 2004, he was severely injured in a race boat accident. Unable to participate on the race course, he remained very active in the sport. He helped his brother win the 2004 250cc Hydro National Championship while driving Nic’s boat. Nic was the referee for the US Titles Series Organization. Nic also loved hunting and fishing. He overcame the injuries from the accident for almost ten years, when in September of 2013 he declined and began a series of surgeries. He fought a hard battle right up to the very end.

Nic is survived by his mother, Denise Eldredge of Port St. Lucie, his father Danny Thompson of Lakeland, FL, his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Eldredge, the best brother in the world and his wife Ben and Dru Thompson, his beloved nephew and niece Cooper and Aubrie Thompson; his maternal Aunts and Uncles Sue and Brad Sailer, Sherry and David Eldredge, Steve Eldredge; his paternal Aunts and Uncles Kelli and Tony Dias, Kristy and Mark Shank; his cousins Katie Sailer, Jason Sailer, Amy (Jeremy and Emily) Burton, Wendy Eldredge, Misty (Jimmy, Brooklynn Barefoot, Braelynn) Sadler, Emilee Dias Harrington and Amanda Shank. His best friend and neighbor Ed Green. Nic is also survived by our extended family of boat racers from all over the country. Nic was very blessed to have so many people who loved him. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Don Eldredge, his paternal grandparents Don and Jane Thompson, his Aunt Kim Thompson and his “big fat buddy” Trebor Billiter of Lakeland, FL.

Here is the hotel information for anyone that will be attending Nic's Celebration of Life. There are two hotels close. I don't have any information regarding the Fountain Resort. It's a little older, but appears clean and it's about six miles from Nic's house. The Holiday Inn Express is about ten miles from Nic's.

Please be sure to let me know if you're attending, so we have plenty of food and beer!
