It must be signed by the Parent / Legal Guardian and Notarized!! See the release below:

NOTIFICATION AS RESPECTS TO THE OFF-SITE MINOR RELEASE WAIVER AUTHORIZATION

Mon, 02/06/2017 - 11:19am -- Patrick Mell Notification as respects to the off-site Minor Release Waiver authorization
The following notification is a clarification to the question regarding the off-site signing of Minor Release forms for APBA events brought up at the Insurance Seminar at the 2017 Annual Meeting. Alive Risk has notified us that off-site signing and notarization of a Minor Release Waiver is OK, as long as the copy brought to the event is the original. The person at the event in charge of handling the waivers must see that it is not in black and white or photocopied. It must have the original colored ink. Along with this please note that the Minor Release Waiver should not be folded.

Howie...........i was at this meeting in LA also and it was mentioned that hopefully something could be 'worked out'. Guess this now means we can't bring friends to the races under 18 without this disclaimer form being signed, witnessed and notarized by the parent or legal guardian. This is a major issue and perhaps APBA should consider on all race circulars putting in BOLD LETTERS the need to get this paperwork done well in advance if a racing family intends to bring kids (other than their own) to the races for a fun weekend!!

Do you have to leave the waiver with each race site or can you use the same one for the entire season?

Welcome to hydroracer, we hope you enjoy your visit.

Matt - this is exactly what Hawk said it would try and do, and they were able to. Without this concession the parent would of had to be in attendance at the event. New insurance laws, this applies to all forms of racing (boat racing is the only sport that is allowed to do 1 waiver for the whole event) most have to compete this daily! This is why I posted here so all could see and understand ahead of time.

Theresa - A new waiver must be completed for each event

Howie............understood but perhaps our clubs should blast this in BOLD on race circulars as many of us bring young friends and may forget about this once it drops off Hydroracer............

Is this required for a stray kid to just be at a race or only if they are actually racing?

Good luck with this issue what next do we need to stop all kids that come to watch a race and ask for a release or send him away ?? I'm sure this will go along way to get new kids excited about boat racing---

Is this applied for admission to the hot pits only?

Waivers are required to enter the restricted area.

This is not an APBA only issue. This applies to any motorsport event and comes from the insurance commission's.

This is only for restricted areas.
