  • AOF 2011 celebrated 40 Years: Have shirts

AOF was a busy organization in 2011. Our nationals were in Pineville. I will post results soon. We celebrated our 40 year anniversary and all who attended got shirts. The Lifetime members had a small reunion at the nationals with many in attendance. It was fun.
Lots of race sites are coming back as well as clubs and members. On the agenda this year is a $15,000 race in Mississippi. Also a resurgance in the North East. In Florida we will continue to have our monthly races at Lake Placid and will be extending an invitation soon to the USTS for a race/testing on the Monday and Tuesday before their Florida races. We truly appreciate the commraderie and friendship from USTS over the years. We are awaiting the final dates of their race in Florida.
Remember, a one week end membership is only $25 and can be added to at any time to make a full $75 membership.
We are definitely only a grass roots organization in which the clubs carry the ball. We provide only the sanction and insurance so you can keep your money in your club for promotion. (Promotion your way with what works for you.)
Our President is Dan Parker, formerly from Maine, now Texas. We voted in Bill Walker last year to lifetime. We all know Bill. Roy Summral of Mississippi is the latest recipient.
The highlight of the nationals was super racer Tara Cook giving us a quick lesson or two in how to flip a runabout and come out smiling. She is quite a gal for a 16 year old and gets our vote for Youth Award. Woman of the year was Patsy Hebert and the coveted Dudley award went to Freddie Hebert. Man of the year for our 40th anniversary went to Billy Kropog.
What a wonderful year and looking forward to 2012.
